Legal Status, Official American Recognition
Hellenic American University is a non-governmental American University of public interest and public control. It was founded under this name pursuant to Senate Bill 451, which was enacted into law by the House of Representatives and Senate of the State of New Hampshire as Chapter 94:1 of the 2004 Laws of the same State. All its academic programs are approved, closely monitored and regularly evaluated by the Postsecondary Education Commission (NHPEC), a governmental agency of the State of New Hampshire. Hellenic American University’s name is incorporated in the public record of the legal entities of the State of New Hampshire and in the record of the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, Trade Marks and Designs. Hellenic American University has been listed under the code section “Non-profit 501 (c) (3)”, “Public Charity Status 170 (b) (1) (A) (ii)” (document of the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) dated 12/14/2005).
Mission
Hellenic American University provides the highest quality American higher education which is interculturally informed, interdisciplinary in nature, and career-relevant. It educates its students to be global citizens who are solidly grounded in the liberal arts and equipped to contribute to the economic and social development of their communities. Hellenic American University’s research initiatives advance the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the arts and humanities, social and natural sciences, business, and technology.
Faculty Strength and Mentoring
The faculty of Hellenic American University reflects the institution’s strong global orientation. All faculty members meet the rigorous standards of American higher education and have earned their Ph.D. and Master’s degrees from eminent North American and European universities. They are both university teachers and leading professionals in their field, a fact that plays an important role not only in the classroom, but also in the advisory process. Faculty members are assigned to serve as mentors to students; they work with students individually to help them clarify, plan and actualize their educational, personal and career goals.
